About
A note from owner and founder, Marny Witas:
To me, providing anything other than gold standard quality care is not acceptable. Perhaps that’s a bold claim to start off an about page, but it’s my truth.
I founded Haven Physical Therapy and Pelvic Health in 2020 after spending over 20 years in the field, and watching continuously more constraints be placed on the profession that resulted in less time with patients, less continuity of care, and watered down treatment options that had little to no chance of actually helping patients get better.
So I decided to open my own clinic, and double down on my preferred treatment approach. An approach that provided highly-skilled, autonomous, patient-centric care that focused on identifying the root cause instead of just chasing symptoms, prioritizing outcomes that the patient cared about, not just what insurance would pay for, and delivering truly individualized care.
I’ve lost count of the number of women and men who have sat across from me over the years and, for the first time, let down their emotional guard. Sometimes they cry, not out of despair but out of relief. Relief that someone understands that their symptoms are real, that they’re not alone, and that there is hope.
These moments—when a patient finally feels safe, heard, and supported—are the most rewarding for me.
You deserve to work with a provider who feels like the right fit. You deserve a treatment approach that is designed to actually help you get better. You deserve gold standard quality care.
I invite you to think of Haven as a sanctuary; a place where you can find relief, regain hope, and begin your healing journey.
About Haven Physical Therapy and Pelvic Health
Haven PT is a clinic that specializes exclusively in pelvic floor care for older adolescents and adults navigating pelvic floor dysfunction.
As a pelvic health specialist, I treat both women and men, and the majority of patients who come through my door simply want to live their lives without pain and symptoms. They want to be able to be present, sleep, sit, use menstrual products, work, parent, clean, cook, and be intimate. All reasonable, all absolutely achievable.
While the list of conditions that I treat is extensive, the patients who do best here have a few things in common.
They are motivated, driven, and care about finding a long-term solution for their pelvic floor conditions.
They understand that healing is a process, not a quick fix, and that working as a team will give them the best results.
They are driven to do what is required, on all levels of health and wellness.
Treatment moves through four phases: Identifying what's driving your symptoms → addressing what we find → building resiliency to facilitate return to all activities → and long-term maintenance to promote ongoing independence.
Together, we can and will work through any challenges that arise.
It will take teamwork, and a commitment to the process, but I promise I will do everything in my power to help you.
About Marny E Witas, PT, Pelvic Health Specialist
Hi there! I’m Marny, pelvic health specialist, clinic owner, and the resident Maven of Haven.
I was born and raised in our beautiful state of Maine and have over 30 years of clinical experience, with over 25 of those years being in the specialty of Pelvic Health.
Since my first advanced post graduate Pelvic Health course in 1994, (learning the function and influences upon the Pelvic Floor muscles) I have spent my career learning, evolving, perfecting, and working to understand everything possible about Pelvic Health and how to best support a patient population that has historically been dismissed, underserved, and misunderstood. I have taken an expansive number of advanced trainings and I do not plan on stopping anytime soon. Life-long learner here!
I was trained in an osteopathic medical model, which instilled in me to always look for the root cause. I asked “why” a lot, always trying to find the cause of a condition, the answer as to why something hurt, or an explanation for why something functioned the way it did. And while I think my nonstop questions weren’t always appreciated by my instructors, I know that it made me a much better clinician.
Outside of the clinic you’ll likely find me exploring the woods with my husband, walking on the beach, attending local sporting events, spending time with my extended family and friends, camping, or trying out the newest restaurant. Although we often dine at our tried and true local digs. I have a college-aged son who is in the regimented marine engineering operations program at MMA in Castine, a Doodle dog who makes me laugh every day, and 3 cats, yes, you read that right, 3 cats.
