Whole-Body Support for the Whole Pregnancy Journey

January 23, 2026

So—you’re pregnant!

Here come the emotions: excited, scared, overwhelmed, relieved… all within the first few minutes of seeing that positive test. Some of these feelings are hormonally driven; others are just your natural response to a life-changing moment.

Maybe you’ve been trying for months—or even years—to conceive, and this is your long-awaited positive test. Maybe you already have three little ones at home, and this was a surprise. Or perhaps your journey included assisted reproductive measures such as IVF.

No matter the how or why, your experience is uniquely yours—and it might look or feel different than you expected. Each pregnancy, even within the same person, can bring a completely new set of sensations and challenges.

That’s where Pelvic Physical Therapy can help.

Support for Every Trimester

I work with women as early as the first trimester—(well I also treat women trying to conceive, but that is another blog for another day). Sometimes I am treating them right up to the day before delivery. Some arrive at the clinic with preexisting conditions that pregnancy may exacerbate; others come in with brand-new symptoms. And honestly, some feel wonderful and simply want to take proactive steps to stay that way.

Every care plan is individualized. As a whole-body provider, I’ve helped one patient with numbness and tingling in her hands one week, addressed plantar fasciitis the next, eased pubic bone pain the following week, and supported her pelvic floor throughout.

At Haven PT and Pelvic Health, I also help women who are asymptomatic and help them prepare for delivery. This is commonly called Birth Prep in the Pelvic PT world. This might include breathing and push-prep techniques, evaluating pelvic floor responsiveness, reviewing birthing positions that are most efficient for your body, or strategizing for a planned cesarean.

Common Pregnancy-Related Concerns Pelvic PT Can Help

Some of the most common conditions I treat include:

● Bladder leakage

● Constipation

● Pelvic girdle pain (especially pubic bone or tailbone)

● Painful intercourse

● Pelvic organ pressure or prolapse

● Abdominal separation: Diastasis Recti

● Vulvar swelling or vascular congestion

● Whole boy musculoskeletal aches, pains, strains or inflammation.

Each of these can be successfully addressed with evidence-based treatment options that are safe and effective during pregnancy.

Why the Right Provider Matters

When choosing a provider, look for someone who can adapt your plan week to week, treat preventatively (not just reactively), and view your body as an integrated system—not just a series of parts.

At Haven PT and Pelvic Health, that means caring for all of you—muscles, fascia, organs, lymphatics, joints, and the nervous system alike. Nervous system regulation isn’t just for pain management; it’s also part of birth preparation and recovery. Learning to recognize and influence your stress response can help you feel calmer and more in control during labor, delivery, and those early, unpredictable postpartum days.

As a manual therapist, I value in-person care. The hands-on assessment and treatment I provide help guide your progress and ensure we’re supporting your body in real time as it changes.

The Power of Manual Therapy

Manual therapy is one of the cornerstones of my care. Techniques may include visceral mobilization, balancing uterine ligaments, improving biomechanics, creating space for the growing womb, and easing tension in the abdominal and pelvic tissues.

These gentle hands-on approaches can also help regulate the nervous system—shifting you out of “fight or flight” and into “rest and digest.” When your system feels safe, healing, mobility, and calm come more naturally.

The Power of Movement: Corrective and Progressive Exercise

While manual therapy is powerful, movement is medicine—and it’s equally essential for a healthy pregnancy.

Many women understandably develop a fear of movement during pregnancy, especially when pain or discomfort shows up. But often, the best way forward is not to retreat—it’s to move mindfully and with guidance.

Together, we’ll focus on:

  • Building strength and stability through pregnancy-safe movement

  • Supporting posture and breath mechanics

  • Promoting optimal pelvic floor function

  • Preventing or reducing pain before it limits your activities

  • Reconnecting with your body’s ability to move, adapt, and heal

  • Providing external support recommendations

  • Instructing in the proper exercises to reduce or prevent further separation of your abdominals.

  • Creating resiliency in your body to prepare your body to care for a tiny human.

Corrective and progressive exercise helps create the resiliency your body needs to meet the demands of pregnancy, delivery, and postpartum recovery. It also helps calm the nervous system, regulate stress, and restore trust in your body’s ability to move safely.

Empowering You—From Conception to Cradle

My goal is to help you feel better, move easier, and feel confident in your body’s ability to adapt.
With a combination of manual therapy, corrective exercise, education, and nervous system regulation, you can experience a pregnancy that feels supported—physically, emotionally, and mentally.

I’ve helped hundreds of women feel empowered in their birth experience—stronger, more informed, and ready to embrace each stage with confidence. Are you newly pregnant, or know someone who is? Do that new Momma a solid, and recommend she seek out a Pelvic PT to guide her through the process.
